email. it will be tough to convince people but microsoft is willing to spend the money. let's see how stocks start off after a flat finish on friday. in positive territory the dow is up 19. nasdaq is gaining 4. s&p up by 3. michelle and frank, back to you. >> thank you, jason brooks, kcbs news. the first all new playstation in 7 years debuts tomorrow. exciting. >> but you don't have to be a gamer to love this to get excited about it. cnet editor-at-large brian cooley is here with a sneak peek at sony playstation 4 and this has a lot of people jacked up. >> reporter: first one in 7 years. we have been on playstation 3 for a long time now. the third generation device. so a lot of gamers are excited but i think it's going to be interesting for a lot of nongamers, as well. let's look at some of the features of what we expect. these are rumors now. at tomorrow's unveiling in new york city tomorrow morning, first of all we expect to have a stronger sort of a second screen support. that means you will have a tablet, phone or some other device that can connect to it
6:47 am
and be an ancillary screen while you're gaming or maybe even while you're watching video. there's also going to be more of that streaming video involved there and maybe even a dvr function of some kind built in either cable or maybe a streaming dvr. expect more streaming of games as well what they call cloud gaming support. so you won't always be putting a disk in but sometimes playing very rich games over your broadband internet connection and finally the controller is due for a redo. and the speculation is it will have a touchpad, an lcd screen or maybe even some kind of a biometric controller in the familiar sony sort of, you know, wing shaped controller that they have. >> but we are not going to see these until christmastime? >> that's the expectation. >> reporter: end of year we'll get this. this is quick for the gaming industry. they tend to announce things and don't come out for 18 months. this is fast by their definition so it could be a great holiday story as it comes out and again competing heavily against th xbox 360.
6:48 am
there is a knockup of a rumor of a touchpad being envisioned in the middle, not an official sony note to you but what one of the game aficianados mocked up so we expect a big change here because the game consoles are becoming more of a mainstream living room product. >> right. >> reporter: not just gamers. >> what too long so long to the make the changes? >> reporter: the gaming console has been very slow to iterate. we have only had three generations of playstation in a decade now? or longer. and they don't move as fast as computers or smartphones or tablets partly because they live and die on hit games that are exclusive to that platform so they are more locked in with game development that's also very long but i think you will see game consoles iterating more quickly going into the future because they are acting more like tablets and phones and have to be more fresh more often. >> under a tree near you come december. >> reporter: very likely. tomorrow is the you know, knowment and we'll find out what we have for a delivery date and price. tomorrow is the announcement. >> price is key.
